Arsenal star urges club to sign unsettled Barcelona ace

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has reportedly urged the club to sign unsettled Barcelona playmaker Arda Turan this summer.

The Turkish international hasn’t made the impact that he would have hoped for after arriving at the Nou Camp in January last year following his £24m move from Atletico Madrid.

Having also struggled at Euro 2016 this summer, Turan is certainly going through a difficult period and a fresh start may well be what is needed.

According to The Sun, Sanchez is urging Arsene Wenger to go out and sign the 29-year-old, with the tabloid suggesting that although the Chilean ace didn’t play alongside Turan, he is fully aware of his qualities after coming up against him in La Liga clashes during his time in Spain.

From Barca’s perspective, it doesn’t appear as though coach Luis Enrique has any desire to sell Turan, despite the fact that the Catalan giants added further competition for places this week with the signing of Andre Gomes from Valencia.

It remains to be seen whether or not that situation changes in the coming weeks, as ultimately the La Liga champions will have to trim their squad in midfield given the number of options available.

As for Arsenal, Wenger has made just one major signing so far this summer with the acquisition of Granit Xhaka, although he has also brought in youngsters Rob Holding and Takuma Asano.

However, that is falling considerably short of the expectations of the supporters, who are still waiting for a new striker in particular.

Turan isn’t quite the answer to that problem as the Gunners need a proven goalscorer to fire them to success next season, but what the former Galatasaray man does provide is more quality and a cutting edge in the final third coupled with a tireless work ethic that will certainly suit the Premier League.
