Germany international Per Mertesacker sparked a social media storm when he claimed that Arsenal deserved to beat Tottenham in the North London derby.
The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw against Tottenham at the Emirates on Sunday but the experienced centre-back – who did not actually play – thought that his side should have won all three points.

Mertesacker has been ruled out for the first of the season due to injury and has yet to make an appearance for the Gunners over the current league campaign.
