Andreas Isaksson set to leave Manchester City

by sub on January 28th, 2008 no comments

Setanta Sports reports that Andreas Isaksson will no longer be a Manchester City player after the end of this month. The Swedish international goalkeeper is all set to leave the Premiership and switch to Turkey where he is expected to join Galatasaray before the January transfer window shuts down on Thursday night.

The 26-year old was always destined to fail at the City of Manchester Stadium. Although he is experienced and quite adept, the Swede hasn’t been helped at all by the string of injuries that has kept him out of the sidelines for most of his tenure at Man City. So much so that in 18 months at Manchester, he could make only 18 appearances.

Although he is now fit, he can’t get a game under manager Sven-Goran Eriksson since Joe Hart has established himself in Man City’s starting XI. Isaksson is now a surplus at Man City and the club is eager to offload him wherever the player wants to go.
