Newcastle United are entrapped in a mesh of problems at the moment and virtually all their players have been linked with moves away from St. James’ Park. Latest reports suggest their captain, a certain Michael Owen, will be the first to jump ship – and that could happen as early as January.
It has been reported that UEFA Cup hopefuls Aston Villa are planning to launch a bid for the England striker in the next transfer window. Club chairman Randy Lerner has promised manager Martin O’Neill two winter signings and it appears one of them could be Owen.
Owen has been indifferent on the pitch for Newcastle this season and has already expressed his frustration at the current turmoil at St. James’ Park. And there is absolutely no sign that things could improve on Tyneside anytime soon, either on the pitch or off it.
