Everton have targeted a move for £10million French international midfielder Etienne Capoue should they be forced to sell Marouane Fellaini in the transfer window.

Fellaini has a £22million release clause in his Goodison Park contract and Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for the Belgian star by activating the release clause.

But, according to The Sun, Everton manager David Moyes has already earmarked a replacement should be lose Feallaini to one of the Premier League’s big guns, and that man is Toulouse’s 24-year-old midfielder Capoue.

Arsenal are also reported to be interested in the midfielder as manager Arsene Wenger attempts to add to his options in the middle of the park with Mikael Arteta ruled out for some time through injury.

The tough-tackling midfielder has been watched a number of times by Wenger and Arsenal’s scouting network, and earlier this week it was reported by talkSport that a £12million bid for the Emirates was set to happen.

But the forthcoming return to fitness of midfielder Abou Diaby, coupled with interest in bring Alex Song back to the club from Barcelona, could put an end to Wenger’s chase of Capoue and put Everton in pole position.
