Gunners set to make move for Pescara’s Mattia Perin.

Arsenal are set to make a summer bid for Italian goalkeeper Mattia Perin according to Sky Sports.

The 20-year old shot stopper is currently playing on loan at Serie A side Pescara and has been attracting the attention of a number of top European clubs after some impressive performances.

The player’s parent club, Genoa, are reportedly keen to hold on to the player however and it is thought the North London club would have to part with significant amounts of cash to secure the player’s signature.

Matteo Roggi, the player’s agent, has reported interest in the player from the likes of AC Milan and Barcelona but has suggested a bid of at least £17 million would be necessary to persuade Genoa to sell.

That may not be enough to deter Arsenal however who are keen to bring in some competition for Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Speaking to tuttomercatoweb.com, Roggi said ‘There are many clubs interested in him: Arsenal, Barcelona, AC Milan. It has also been said about Juventus, Napoli and Roma.

‘Currently however, there is only one certainty about Mattia’s future: he will return to Genoa at the end of the loan and there is a mutual intention for him to spend at least one season in a Genoa shirt.’
