Emirates Stadium side hope to strengthen attack with move for in-form striker.
Arsenal are readying a £20m bid for Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic according to the Daily Mail.
Arsene Wenger, keen to strengthen his attack, has earmarked a move for the 23 year old and has scouted the attacker for a number of months.
The fact that Vincenzo Montella opted to sign Italian international forward Giuseppe Rossi in January, despite the former Man United man still being sidelined with a lengthy knee injury, is perhaps related to the Fiorentina boss’s expectation that Jovetic would leave in the summer.
Wenger has relied heavily on Olivier Giroud this season as his main marksman but could well be keen to bring in alternative options and in many ways the Montenegro international fits Arsenal’s style of play, perhaps more so than the French international who has experienced a patchy first season in the English top tier.
Jovetic’s goals have propelled Fiorentina into a genuine fight for a Champions League berth and perhaps an exit from the Stadio Artemi Franchi side will be less likely if Montella successfully secures qualification to the showpiece tournament.
Stevan Jovetic netted 14 goals in 27 Serie A appearances last term and has racked up 12 in 23 matches during the current campaign.
