Striker linked with Stadium of Light Move.

Check in to Sunderland vs Manchester United

Mahatma Otoo, of Ghanaian side Hearts of Oak is reportedly keen on a move to Sunderland this summer, Sky Sports understands.

The 21-year-old is thought to have been watched closely by Martin O’Neill’s scouting staff and it’s now appearing that a deal to take him to the Stadium of Light would be mutually beneficial.

However, french giants Olympique Lyon have also declared their interest and are set to go head to head with the Black Cats for his signature.

Otoo is in his second spell at the Accra based club after spending some time on loan with Tunisian side Esperance Sportive De Tunis in 2010. His impressive strike rate has caught the attention of a number of clubs but so far Sunderland any Lyon are the only two to take a serious interest.

The player is aware of the interest from both, but he’s more keen to try his luck in England.

“I am delighted with my season so far,” he said, “There is interest from other clubs. I have heard about Lyon through the papers.”

“I have heard about Sunderland as well. I would love to play in England one day. My destiny will take me there and it is my dream to score at Old Trafford, the Emirates, Anfield and Wembley.”

He has one cap for Ghana but has been named in the squad to face Sudan on Sunday.
