With speculation about Arsene Wenger’s summer transfer plans already reaching fever pitch we take a closer look at how the Gunners starting eleven may look by the start of the 2013/14 campagin.

Goalkeeper – Victor Valdes

Barcelona keeper has stated his intention to leave the Nou Camp and the Spanish international has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. With Wojciech Szczesny being dropped and even with Lukasz Fabianski making a good fist of his Arsenal comeback, we can certainly see the experienced La Liga star being a possible summer addition.

Left-Back – Nacho Monreal

January signing has been a marvelous acquisition, making an instant impact since his move to Arsenal from Malaga. Likely first choice starter next term.

Centre-Back – Thomas Vermaelen

Though some may feel that either Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscielny as just as able, we feel that Arsene Wenger will see the Belgian as a first choice centre-back next term, though he may hand the captaincy to Jack Wilshere.

Centre-Back – Mamadou Sakho

PSG defender is high up on Arsene Wenger’s wish-list and the young French defender may well be ready to leave the Parc des Princes as Carlo Ancelotti no doubt looks to bring in yet more signings to further strengthen his squad. The long term Arsenal target may well be in a Gunners shirt by the start of the next campaign.

Right-Back – Carl Jenkinson

Youngster has impressed and we think he will push Bacary Sagna towards an Emirates Stadium exit. The England man has on occasion made schoolboy errors but is on the whole a very exciting prospect, sure to be given the time and space to mature in the Arsenal first-team.

Defensive Midfield – Victor Wanyama

We can see the Celtic youngster being the man to fill the defensive midfield void at Arsenal. The Kenyan has tasted the high life during the SPL side’s run to the last 16 of the Champions League and Arsene Wenger has been scouting the tough tackler and will surely be interested in bringing in the 21 year old this summer.

Central Midfield – Jack Wilshere

We see Wilshere continuing to grow next term and possibly buoyed by being handed the captain’s armband, the only way is onwards and upwards for the England international.

Attacking Midfield – Santi Cazorla

Spaniard has had a very impressive first season in the English top tier, notching up 12 goals and seven assists, and is sure to be a first team regular next term.

Left Attacker – Lukas Podolski

German has perhaps not made as huge an impact as some would have hoped but his progress has been steady if not spectacular. Will surely be occupying a similar role next season as he has this.

Striker – Steven Jovetic

Constantly linked with a move to Arsenal, and apparently happy to consider a move to the North London side, we believe the Montenegro international is odds on to lead the Gunners attack next term.

Right Attacker – Theo Walcott

Despite being used on occasion in his apparently preferred striking role the England man is still a far better weapon out on the right wing and with a new contract signed we see the speedy winger continuing to impress next term.
