Midfielder will snub England for Parisian high life.
Toulouse’s highly rated midfielder Etienne Capoue has dented the hopes of clubs wanting to bring him to England by declaring his desire to play for Paris Saint Germain, talkSPORT reports.
The 24-year-old has been a target for Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal, with the latter reported to have failed in a deadline day bid for the French ace.
Capoue has been hot property since last term and has been named in the Ligue 1 team of the year, sparking more speculation that he will leave Toulouse over the summer after the club have endured an indifferent campaign that has seen them floundering in mid-table.
Everton had been hoping to spend some of the windfall they’re likely to receive for Marouane Fellaini at the end of the season but they will face a struggle to land him now that PSG have kept tabs on him – and he’s mirrored those admiring glances with some of his own.
“There were contacts with Paris St-Germain last winter, and there still are. I’m a huge fan of PSG and to play there would be a dream,” he said.
Capoue is largely considered as one of the best defensive midfielders in France and has already earned five caps for the French national side despite only winning his first call up last year.
