Young defender speaks of his fondness for English football.
FC Basel centre-back Aleksandar Dragovic has spoken of his desire to move to the Premier League, according to the Sun.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye of the likes of Arsenal with his displays this season, particularly in the Europa League, helping Basel past Tottenham into the semi-finals of the competition.
The highly-rated Austrian is seen by Arsene Wenger as a good replacement for out-of-form Thomas Vermaelen, who could be shifted by the club this summer since suffering a drop in confidence after being made captain.
Laurent Koscielny could also leave after being lined up by Bayern Munich, and Dragovic’s desire to play in England will come as a welcome boost. The defender claims he is in contact with fellow countryman Andreas Weimann of Aston Villa, who has told him great things about the English game.
“I regularly speak to Andreas, who has told me a lot about how much he enjoys playing in England,” he said.
“It’s competition at the highest level, which is what I am looking for.
“The fans are fantastic, and the clubs command a lot of respect around the world.”
Arsenal have also been linked with Swansea City’s Ashley Williams and Valencia’s Adil Rami, as a new defender looks to be a priority for Gunners boss Wenger this summer, after yet another campaign without silverware due to all-too-frequent defensive lapses.
