St Etienne stopper admires Reds.
Young St Etienne centre back Kurt Zouma has apparently given Liverpool the green light to press ahead with a move this summer by declaring his admiration for the club, according to The Express.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a fine breakthrough season last year and has continues his good form to become one of the finest defensive prospects in Europe.
He has attracted much interest, but it is Liverpool who have been the most keen as they seek a replacement for the retiring Jamie Carragher. Earlier this week the Merseyside club were linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Raul Albiol but Zouma has been added to the shortlist and the player appears to have returned the sentiment.
Zouma’s agent, David Vanditelli, has admitted that the club have shown an interest and believes it would be the right move for his client even if he wasn’t to be a ready made replacement.
“Playing in the Europa League is a prospect that pleases him. But Liverpool and other clubs are very interesting,” Vanditelli said.
“He could leave to sit on the bench, but it is better to be on the bench of a big club like Liverpool, with all due respect to Saint Etienne.”
