Liverpool shot stopper eyed up by Catalan giants.
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is reportedly a priority target for Barcelona this summer, as they see him as the ideal replacement for Victor Valdes, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 30-year-old has been at Anfield since joining from Villareal in 2005, and has not been at his best for the last couple of seasons now, often making costly errors that have led to some poor goals conceded for the Reds.
The club would be happy to sell him, and have been linked with new goalkeepers themselves, such as Swansea City’s Michel Vorm, and Barcelona’s surprise interest could prove useful in recruiting someone new between the posts.
Barcelona have also been linked with Vorm, as long-serving ‘keeper Valdes confirmed earlier this season that he would be leaving the club for a new challenge.
The Spaniard is said to welcome a move to England, and has been linked with Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United this summer, and PSG are also monitoring his situation.
He probably won’t be the only one leaving the Nou Camp this summer, as the club plan a reshuffle of their squad and want to offload some of their under-performers.
