Arsenal are to fight it out with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach for Bochum youngster Leon Goretzka, according to the Daily Express.

The young midfielder has earned rave reviews for his performances in the German second division this season, and his style has been compared with Borussia Dortmund star Mario Goetze.

Arsenal were keen on Goetze when he was a teenager, though his stock rose quickly as he emerged as one of the world’s best players and he will now complete a big-money move to Bayern Munich next season.

Arsenal remain keen on scouting the world’s best young talent though, and may want to move quickly for Goretzka before other clubs take notice of his talents.

Borussia Monchengladbach are already keen on the 18-year-old, who may cost around £3million, but a move to the Premier League to work under Arsene Wenger may be too good to turn down, given his record of getting the best out of talented youngsters.

He would join fellow German youth internationals Thomas Eisfeld and Serge Gnabry at the Emirates Stadium, two players who could be on the verge of the first team for the Gunners next season.
