Santos have confirmed they have accepted two bids for Brazilian international Neymar in a statement reported on the club’s official website.

Numerous sources state that the reported bids have been registered by La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, both of whom have long been linked with interest in the 21 year old attacker.

A statement on the Santos website reads:

“Santos FC announces that it has received two proposals for the athlete Neymar da Silva Santos Junior.

“Given the offers and conditions of the player’s contract, the management committee of the club decided to transfer the player.

“Neymar Jr and his father are expected in Belmiro to choose which proposal the athlete will accept.”

Neymar is considered one of the most talented young footballers in the world though having not plied his trade in Europe has led many to question whether the starlet striker can live up to the hype that surrounds him daily.

There is no denying the success he has enjoyed with Santos, 136 goals in 224 appearances is an impressive return, and Neymar’s national team record of 20 goals in 32 matches is also not to be sniffed at, though it’s worth noting that of those 20 goals 14 came in friendlies.

Clearly any accepted bids for the Santos youngster would have had to be very large ones and both Barcelona and Real Madrid are keen to bring in a very marketable player and it appears that a decision as to which of the two clubs Neymar will select is imminent.
