Ivorian striker set to be offered escape route from the Emirates Stadium.
French giants Lyon are preparing a loan bid for Arsenal’s Gervinho according to The Metro.
The Ivorian striker has failed to establish himself at the Emirates Stadium following his arrival from Lille in 2011.
On his day, Gervinho is capable of putting in top class performances, but those days have been few and far between, with Arsenal fans having become increasingly frustrated at his profligate finishing.
Gervinho’s first team opportunities are likely to be restricted next season as the Gunners look to bring in a number of top class strikers over the coming months.
The club are keen to re-establish themselves amongst those teams capable of challenging for the title and are ready to provide Gunners boss Arsene Wenger with significant backing in this summer’s transfer window to make that happen.
Wenger has reportedly identified the likes of Stevan Jovetic and Gonzalo Higuain as the players he wants to fire Arsenal to glory which could spell the end for Gervinho.
Gervinho remains highly rated in France where he is fondly remembered for his performances with Lille and that could pave the way for a move to Lyon.
Turkish sides Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are waiting in the wings and are ready to make a bid should negotiations between Lyon and the Gunners break down.
