Russian club ready to offer Arshavin Emirates escape route.
Andrei Arshavin in ready to put his Arsenal nightmare to an end according to The Mirror.
The Russian forward arrived at the club to great fanfare in 2009 following his £15 million move from Zenit St Petersburg.
Arshavin got his Arsenal career off to a blistering start, peaking when the player scored all four goals in his club’s 4-4 draw with Liverpool.
But the Russian has failed to maintain that standard of performance and has found himself increasingly marginalised at the club over the past few seasons.
Arshavin rarely featured during the current campaign, despite earning wages of £90,000 a week.
The player’s contract expires in the coming weeks and both club and player have decided it would be better for Arshavin to pursue pastures new.
That could pave the way for a return to Zenit, with the Russian side ready to welcome back their former star.
Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti is ready to make Arshavin one of his top summer targets and is happy to match the player’s wage demands on the account of not having to pay a transfer fee.
Should a move to Zenit fall through, it is thought that Fenerbahce are ready to offer the player a contract as well as a number of clubs from the MLS and Middle East.
