Having seemingly given up hope on signing the Montenegrin striker and turning his attention to Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis, Arsene Wenger will be delighted to hear that Stevan Jovetic has since told Fiorentina that he is looking for a new experience.

Just as Tottenham Hotspur’s failure to secure Champions League football next season may see them lose Gareth Bale over the course of the summer, so it appears Fiorentina’s inability to finish in Serie A’s top 3 will lead to their leading goalscorer leaving the club in search of the chance to play among Europe’s elite.

Fiorentina appear to have finally surrendered to the wantaway striker’s demands, and believe now is the ideal time to cash in on the player.

In an article on Football Italia, Sandro Mencucci (Fiorentina’s general manager) is quoted as saying: “Jovetic wants a new experience and we’ll try to make him happy, but only if a suitable offer comes in.”

Wenger is understood to have a vast transfer budget at his disposal this summer, but he may have to break the North London club’s transfer record of £30.8m (José Antonio Reyes from Sevilla in 03/04) if he wishes to sign the highly sought-after striker.

With reported interest from a variety of clubs including PSG, Juventus and Manchester City, Wenger will have to fight hard to bring his primary transfer target to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
