Veteran shot stopper admits holding talks with an English club.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar has revealed that he is holding talks with an unnamed English club over a summer move, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 33-year-old only joined QPR last summer from Inter Milan, but is almost certain to leave the club following their surprise relegation to the Championship.

The Brazilian shot stopper was one of several big names brought in by Rangers in last summer’s transfer window, and is now expected to be of many who will depart for moves back to the top flight.

Cesar has already confirmed that he is in talks with clubs in England, and it is believed that Arsenal are the main contenders for his signature, as they are known to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer following some disappointing form from current first-choice Wojciech Szczesny.

The likes of Asmir Begovic from Stoke and Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet have also been strongly linked with the Gunners, but Cesar would likely be considerably cheaper than either of these two at around £5million.

On his future, Cesar said: “I am in negotiations with other clubs in England and from other countries but there’s still not been anything definitive.

“I am concentrating on Brazil, I still have a deal with QPR, but I also know I have to prove that I should be in the squad for the World Cup in 2014.”

Arsenal have also been linked with Cesar’s QPR team-mate Loic Remy, who has impressed at Loftus Road since signing from Marseille in January.
