Turkish side Besiktas are the latest club to show an interest in outbound Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin, according to talkSPORT.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the month and the club have confirmed that he will not be offered a new deal as they look to remove his hefty pay packet off the wage bill ahead of a summer of rebuilding and reshaping.

The Russian international spent part of the 2011/12 season on loan with former Club Zenit St Petersburg and has was expected to link up with them again this summer, however, the Turkish giants have now been credited with a serious interest and will attempt to persuade him to make the move to Istanbul over the next few weeks.

Arshavin joined the Gunners in 2008 and despite showing glimpses of what he could do he never fully managed to display that kind of form with any real consistency. His impact this season has been minimal, having made just 11 appearances across all competitions, scoring once.

Besiktas still feel that he has something to offer, though, and could follow in the footsteps of his fellow Premier League ex-pats to the Bosphorus on a free transfer.
