Newcastle look set to enter the race to sign the Celtic midfielder.
Newcastle have entered the race to sign Celtic’s midfield star Victor Wanyama according to the Daily Express.
The Kenyan is attracting interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League and Europe having spent 2 years at Parkhead.
Newcastle manager is a known admirer of Wanyama and sees him as the perfect candidate to strengthen his midfield.
The club are set to have competition from the likes of Arsenal, Southampton and Stoke City while Italian giants Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the 21 year old.
The midfielder is said to be rated at £10 million and although Celtic don’t need to sell Wanyama, the midfielder may try to force a move through.
Wanyama stock his risen through the season due to his performances in the Champions League, especially during Celtic’s victory over Barcelona at Parkhead.
Newcastle will see the Kenyan as a direct replacement for Check Tiote, who has been linked with a move to Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow.
New Stoke manager Mark Hughes reportedly tried to sign Wanyama during his spell at QPR and appears to want to pick up where he left off by trying to sign the midfielder for his new club.
