Steve McManaman has told Gareth Bale to make the move to Real Madrid this summer according to the Daily Mirror.

McManaman moved to Real Madrid from Liverpool in 1999 on a free transfer and he believes it is time for the Welsh winger to move to one of Europe’s top clubs.

“If he ever has the opportunity to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona I would  never say ‘no’ to them,” said McManaman.

Bale has been heavily linked to Real Madrid for the past 12 months and it is thought that Madrid are willing to break the World Record transfer fee in order to get their man.

Spurs appear to be fighting a losing battle in their bid to keep Bale at White Hart Lane, especially as they won’t be playing in the Champions League next season, a competition any big player wants to play in.

Bale has also been linked with a move to one of Tottenham’s Premier League rivals, with both Manchester United and Chelsea said to be interested in the winger after his prolific season at White Hart Lane.

Barcelona were also said to be preparing a bid but its appears that their interest has cooled since they signed Brazilian Neymar last month.
