German side Borussia Dortmund are considering making a summer move for Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski according to The Daily Mail.

The beaten Champions League finalists are keen to bring in reinforcements over the coming months as they prepare for life without a number of their top stars.

Dortmund are already reeling from the news that their star midfielder, Mario Gotze, will be leaving the club to sign for their bitter rivals Bayern Munich this summer.

He looks set to be followed out of the Dortmund exit door by Polish forward Robert Lewandowksi. To add insult to injury, it also appears that Lewandowski’s most likely destination is also Bayern.

Dortmund know they will have to strengthen to be able to mount a challenge on their Bavarian rivals next season and have reportedly identified Podoloski as the man to fire them to glory.

Podolski is thought to be happy in North London but could be tempted to make a return to his homeland with the World Cup just around the corner.

Playing in the Bundesliga would likely strengthen Podolski’s chances of a starting berth in the Germany side and that could persuade the striker to join Dortmund.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also known to be in the market for new strikers which could potentially push Podolski out of the Arsenal starting eleven.
