Arsenal have set their sights on Spanish forward Michu as Arsene Wenger continues to pursue prospective attacking signings this summer.

The Daily Mail claim that Wenger is discussing the possibility of launching a bid for the 27 year old, who had an excellent first Premier League season at the Liberty Stadium.

The former Rayo Vallecano attacker cost the South Wales side just £1.6m and proceeded to impress all with his consistent performances for Michael Laudrup’s side, netting 22 goals in all competitions.

The stylish Swansea City striker would suit Arsenal well but one would imagine that the North London side would have to fork out a hefty sum to persuade the club to sell.

Arsenal are also pursuing Michu’s team-mate Ashley Williams.

Michu is still to win a maiden Spanish national team cap and would be well aware that a high-profile move to the Emirates Stadium could help him secure that honour, this is perhaps all the more relevant with the 2014 World Cup finals around the corner.

Michu would also be joining fellow Spaniards Nacho Monreal and Santi Cazorla at Arsenal.
