Liverpool are ready to make an audacious attempt to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez according to Goal.com.

The Anfield club are currently in the market for a new striker, with Luis Suarez looking increasingly likely to depart Merseyside in the coming months.

Liverpool will demand a fee in excess of £50m for Suarez and are ready to reinvest part of that sum in the Uruguayan’s replacement.

They have reportedly identified Tevez as the man they want to replace Suarez and the Argentine striker could be available for as little as £7m.

Tevez is in the last year of his current deal and is set for talks with the club over his future in the coming days.

City are thought to be ready to offer Tevez a new deal but will look to offload the striker should he turn that down, rather than risk losing him for nothing in a year’s time.

Liverpool are likely to face stiff competition for the player’s signature though with a number of top European sides reportedly monitoring his availability.

Juventus have made Tevez their top attacking target after they gave up their chance to sign Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic.

Wealthy Ligue 1 sides PSG and Monaco are also thought to be preparing bids.
