Ten Targets That Could Push Tottenham Towards Securing Coveted Champions League Berth

David Villa- Barcelona

Villa has a reputation as one of the most dangerous strikers in Europe, having scored plenty of goals during his career at Valencia and then Barcelona, the club he currently plays for. Villa can also play out wide in a front three, which he has been doing at Barca since Lionel Messi moved into the centre forward position. Villa has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Barcelona starting line-up this season, with injury being a constant annoyance to the Spanish international. Since the end of the season, Barcelona have signed Brazilian forward Neymar, one of the most highly rated young players in the world. This could push Villa further away from a starting place at Barcelona and the striker is known to want to play first team football ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Brazil. Because of that, speculation has mounted that Villa will be leaving the Spanish champions this summer and the striker has spoken about his admiration for the Premier League. Spurs are in the market for a striker and Villa would appear to fit the bill. However, Spurs are set to face competition for the Spaniards signature from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool. Arsenal look to be front-runners due to Villa’s preference that the club he plays for is in this season Champions League, so Spurs may have some work to do in order to get their man.
