Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his belief that his side will make a strong challenge on the top four places next season according to Goal.com.

The forty year old manager has insisted that Liverpool will be stronger next season and can build on their performance from this year to challenge the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton for a place in the top four.

Liverpool hope to add to their ranks in the coming days as they look to confirm the arrival of Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo. The deal was briefly thrown into confusion after Tottenham reportedly made a late attempt to sign the player. Their move for Aspas failed though and the striker is widely expected to arrive on Merseyside in the coming days.

Rodgers insists the club’s summer spending will not end there though with the Anfield manager expressing his desire to bring in a centre-back and another attacking midfield player.

The club are facing up to the prospect of life without club legend Jamie Carragher, who retired at the end of last season. Kolo Toure has arrived on a free transfer from Manchester City but Rodgers is keen to bring in another defender with the future of Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel uncertain.
