Barcelona President Sandro Rosell has hinted that the club may be interested in signing PSG’s Thiago Silva according to Goal.com.

The Catalan giants are currently in the process of searching for a new centre back as they face up to the reality of life without Carlos Puyol.

The Spanish defender has been a stalwart at the club for well over a decade but his declining years is forcing Barcelona to begin their search for his replacement.

The club are reportedly keen to bring in a centre back who will be able to easily adapt to the club’s passing brand of football and that has prompted speculation linking the La Liga champions with PSG’s Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.

Rosell has now refused to rule out a potential approach for the player but suggested that the player’s wages could be a potential stumbling block.

That may well be a preliminary attempt from Rosell to warn Silva not to expect the same wages he currently receives at Qatari-backed PSG if a deal is to go through.

Silva has previously stated that it would be a dream for him to play for Barcelona so he may well be open to a wage drop in order to pull on the red and blue shirt.
