The defender has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer.
Thiago Silva has played down suggestions that he could leave Paris St Germain for Barcelona this summer, Goal.com reports.
The Brazilian defender has been heavily linked with a move to Catalonia, with reports suggesting that he is unsettled at the French Champions due to Carlo Ancelotti’s departure to Real Madrid.
However, Silva insists that he will honour his contract with Paris St Germain as he is happy at the club.
“There’s always this kind of speculation during the transfer period,” he told L’Equipe.
“I felt flattered because it means that my work with PSG is appreciated, but these things are normal”.
“I am happy with PSG and the club is happy with me. There was no reason to jump ship. I appreciate president Nasser Al-Khelaifi as a friend, and I want to honour him”.
Barcelona are desperate to sign a quality centre back this summer to strengthen their leaky defence and Silva is thought to be their number one target.
Silva was close to moving to the Nou Camp last summer but choose to move to PSG instead, partly because of the presence of Carlo Ancelotti at the French club.
With Silva committing himself to PSG, Barcelona will have to look elsewhere for a new centre back and reports suggest that David Luiz of Chelsea and Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund will be their next targets.
