Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski insists he will ‘give everything’ to the Champions League runners-up despite his public desire to leave the club reports Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old Polish international forward wanted to make the move to domestic rivals Bayern Munich and even agreed personal terms ahead of a switch to the Allianz Arena. However Dortmund were not willing to sell the striker to their adversaries after losing German starlet Mario Gotze earlier this summer and instead he was told he would be staying with the club.

Lewandowski, one-time target for Manchester United, will now remain at the Westfalenstadion as he sees out the final year of his contract before departing next summer for nothing.

But despite this uncertainty surrounding his long-term future the striker, who hit 24 Bundesliga goals last term, is adamant that he is focused on his current side and will do his utmost to bring further success to the team.

Speaking after featuring in the German Super Cup in a 4-2 win over Bayern Munich, he told Sky Sports: “I hope this is not the last title.

“I will give everything I’ve got for Dortmund. It does not matter what happened. I am not interested about that on the pitch.

“When I am out on the pitch, then Dortmund is all I think about. I want to give it all I’ve got and be successful.”

While Lewandowski did not find the net during their victory, he demonstrated no signs of frustration in his first competitive match for Dortmund since agreeing to stay for the upcoming season.
