The Barcelona midfielder is unimpressed by Real Madrid’s main transfer target.
Barcelona’s experienced midfielder Xavi has said that he is unsure whether Gareth Bale is worth the reported world record transfer fee that Real Madrid are prepared to pay for him, Metro reports.
Real Madrid are thought to be ready to offer Tottenham a huge £86 million for Bale, who scored 21 Premier League goals for the North London club last season.
Xavi claims that he has never even seen Bale play a full match and doubts whether he is worth the reported £86 million.
‘I don’t know what Bale is worth. Honestly, I haven’t seen him play a full match,’ said Xavi.
Madrid have been interested in Bale all summer long but are set to step up their interest in the coming weeks, with president Florentino Perez set to meet Spurs chairman Daniel Levy for talks early in August.
Bale is understood to be interested in a move to the Spanish capital and would especially like the opportunity of playing in the Champions League, a competition Spurs haven’t qualified for.
However, Levy is reluctant to let Bale leave, even if the club receive a world record offer from Madrid, prompting the Spanish club to encourage Bale to hand it a transfer request in bid to force Levy into selling him.
