The Brazilian centre back has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer but insists he remains loyal to Paris St Germain.
Thiago Silva has insisted that he will remain at Paris St Germain until his contract expires in 2017 despite rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona, Goal.com reports
Barcelona have been chasing Silva all summer, having missed out on the defender last year when the Brazilian decided to move Paris instead of joining the La Liga Champions.
Despite Barcelona’s interest, Silva says he will remain at the French Champions until they want to sell him, with reports suggesting that he has had agreed a new contract to stay at the Parc des Princes.
“It is my responsibility to stay in Paris and fulfil my contract until the end,” he told reporters on Wednesday. “There was some speculation about Barcelona, if I would go or not but I always make it very clear. I’m very happy here and I want to stay.
“I believe in the project – even after the departure of Carlo Ancelotti and Leonardo, nothing has changed – and my decision to try to leave is not true”.
Some had believed that Silva was unsettled in Paris following the departure of manager Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid but that appears to not be the case and the Brazilian will hope to play a big part in PSG’s season after injury restricted him to just 22 league appearances last season.
