Michu believes compatriot will be a Kop hero at Anfield.Check in to Swansea City vs Liverpool
Swansea City striker Michu has backed Iago Aspas to have a good season with the club this season after joining from Celta Vigo over the summer, but believes the Swans will come out victorious when the two sides meet on Monday night, the Express reports.
The pair played together whilst at Celta, and Michu has revealed that he kept in contact with his fellow forward after he left for Rayo Vallecano and now last season’s bargain of the year is looking forward to lining up against his old friend.
Speaking with Swansea’s official website, Michu said; “They have one of my friends, Iago Aspas.
“I think he’s really good and is going to have a good season. I want to play against him.
“Liverpool is going to be a difficult game. They are really strong, but we need to get three points at home.”
And Michu also praised new boy Jonjo Shelvey’s arrival at the club after Aspas’ arrival at Liverpool virtually forced him to leave Anfield, and Michu is expecting him to be an important player for the season ahead.
“I am really happy with Jonjo. I think he is going to have a good season because he’s a top player, and he will be important for us,” he added.
“He knows that playing against Liverpool is always difficult, but we are going to try and get the points at home. We need it.”
