Arsene Wenger has been linked with a myriad of potential striker signings as he seeks to offer some much needed support to French forward Olivier Giroud and a move for the £28m rated Belgian would be an sensible one to consider given his proven Premier League pedigree.

The 22 year old Villa Park ace netted 19 top tier goals in his first season at the Midlands club and has continued to impress this term and despite signing a new long term contract there is perhaps a decent chance that if a big money offer is made for the forward that Aston Villa would be forced to consider their options, especially if the former Racing Genk man was to force the issue.

Wenger’s need to bring in a fresh striking option has been exacerbated by injury concerns over Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski, with the German still sidelined.

Aston Villa paid £7m to sign Benteke 18 months ago and an offer of four times that fee would be tough to turn down.
