The 21-year-old has only managed a bit part role so far this season, starting just once, but making nine appearances from the bench. He has, though, endeavoured to get his name on the scoresheet on two occasions, including a last minute equaliser as a super sub against Levante in October.

The moves to either Arsenal or Spurs have been mooted since the summer, with some reports even suggesting that a deal had already been put in place to take him to the Gunners. However, Arsene Wenger disputed the truth in that story, which was quickly followed by the player’s denial, and now Ancelotti has added his own two-cents worth by claiming that he does not intend on letting the player go anywhere.

“I say, some clubs are interested but the subject is closed,” he told Spanish radio station Esradio.

“Morata remains with us because we need a footballer like him at Real Madrid this season.

“Although he has not played many matches this season I have confidence in his work for the team.”
