Arsene Wenger will have been delighted with his side’s start to the current campaign but having smashed the club’s transfer record to sign German midfielder Mesut Ozil the Arsenal boss may feel it’s time to once again invest in his Gunners squad.

Interest in young midfielder Rabiot is perhaps not all that surprising given Wenger’s penchant for signing young talents with genuine potential but a move for Uruguayan hot-shot Cavani would be quite something of a surprise.

The former Napoli man arrived at the Parc des Princes over the summer for a fee in excess of £50m and PSG would surely not consider selling the 26 year old striker.

Cavani has scored an impressive 13 goals in 19 games in all competitions thus far this term and even if speculation concerning his relationship with the club, and in particular with strike-partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is well founded a move by Arsenal for the forward still seems unlikely.

Arsene Wenger could well do with bringing in another striker in January but more likely such an addition would be to offer support for Olivier Giroud and not to replace the French international.
