The 29 year old Marseille midfielder has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the past and his side’s poor start to the season may well make a move for the pint sized midfield dynamo all the more likely.

Last term Valbuena finished the Ligue 1 season as the joint leading assist maker as Marseille secured a runners-up spot in the table but this season things have not panned out so well with the Stade Velodrome side currently sitting in fifth spot in the table some 13 points off top of the table PSG.

Valbuena is into his eighth season at Marseille and may feel that now is the time to consider a fresh challenge, knowing that a move to Arsenal could help him secure a more prominent role in Didier Deschamps French national team set-up.

Valbuena could offer a fresh midfield dimension to the Arsenal squad, that admittedly does have a fair few similar performers but perhaps with Abou Diaby perennially injured and Tomas Rosicky perhaps set to leave at the end of the season when his contract comes to an end a move for the box to box Marseille man would be a sensible one to consider.
