Premier League big hitters Chelsea are set to be rivalled by Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain for the signature of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos when the transfer window re-opens in January, the Express reports.

Ramos was high on the Stamford Bridge outfits wish list over the summer, as former Real boss Jose Mourinho looked to bring the Spanish international to west London with him, but the player snubbed the chance to stay in the Spanish capital instead.

The Blues have endured a series of defensive woes as of late, leaking in six goals over their past two games, and Mourinho has recognised that the problem needs fixing sooner rather than later.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has already made it explicitly clear that Ramos is not for sale, when he told the Spanish press last week: “Everyone knows the importance of Ramos, technically, and what he has achieved at this club.

“I do not know his relationship with the president. The president has a very good relationship with all players.

“He is one of the best players in the world and we need to have him.”

However, PSG could now be set to test their resolve with a big money bid of their own and reports have suggested that the French club have already sounded out the player’s representatives over his availability.
