£30m rated FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez appears keen to talk up a potential move to the North London club, singing his praises of the style of play Arsene Wenger’s side adopts as well as his admiration for Arsenal and his boyhood support of the Gunners.
The 27 year old is quoted as stating;
‘I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play,’ said Martinez to reporters.
‘It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me. If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.’
Now if that’s not the sort of statement that equates to a ‘come and get me plea’ then we don’t know what is.
Arsenal have relied heavily on Olivier Giroud up front and suffered with lengthy injuries to both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott, who are now back from their respective spells on the sidelines.
Wenger had to restore Nicklas Bendtner to the first team set-up, such were the lack of options available to the Arsenal manager, so one can see why a new option is needed.
Jackson Martinez has proven hugely successful since moving from his native Colombia to Primeira Liga giants FC Porto, scoring 49 goals in 64 appearances for the Portuguese side.
