Emmanuel Frimpong’s debut for Barnsely ended in an early bath after the midfielder was sent off just 30 minutes into the Tykes’ 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
The 23-year-old, who signed for the Yorkshire club from Arsenal in a deadline day deal yesterday, was booked twice within the space of seven minutes. Barnsley remain in the relegation zone after Wednesday scored a last minute winner.
In a bad tempered match, the visitors finished up with nine men and the hosts with ten after Jacob Mellis and Jermaine Johnson also saw red.
Frimpong was with Arsenal since he was nine and was also sent off in his full debut for the Gunners, meaning he achieved the football equivalent of a king pair.
