Arsenal fans had expected, or perhaps hoped, that Arsene Wenger would look to bring in some significant additions in the January transfer window but the Frenchman either failed to do the deals he wished to see complete or felt he could cope with the players in his armoury.
With the North London club mounting a genuine push to end a lengthy silverware drought and with a number of injury concerns Wenger brought just one player in, that coming in the form of cultured Swedish international Kim Kallstrom. The problem is…he too is injured.
The 31 year old is set for six weeks out and has returned to Moscow to continue his recovery from a back complaint.
