The South Korean prodigy is already considered to be one of the brightest prospects in the La Liga champions’ fabled La Masia youth academy, so much so that the Merseysiders are now thought desperate to land the 16-year-old striker.
However, the Reds face a battle to sign the player, who is currently in negotiations with the La Liga giants regarding his first ever professional contract at Camp Nou, although that has clearly not put the Premier League outfit off expressing their own interest in Lee.
And it is believed that Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers is even prepared to hand the youngster a two-year scholarship, with a hefty pay packet as well, in order to make the move to the Premier League this summer.
In fact, officials from the Reds are even expected to now travel to Catalonia next week in order to open talks with the player in a development that is sure to further anger the Catalans.
