The 21-year-old international has been heralded as one of the stand out talents breaking through into the Bundesliga mainstream this year and was heavily linked with a number of clubs last summer, including Tottenham Hotspur, before making his way to Leverkusen from Hamburg.
Arsenal were thought to be in the running to land his signature last season, as his versatility caught Arsene Wenger’s eye. Having spent most of his early career playing through the middle he has featured mostly out wide this term, and that is an attribute that Wenger believes to be most attractive.
The Gunners are still keen to bring in some fresh attacking talent this summer, and the club could make Son their top priority ahead of the new campaign.
Son has managed 9 goals and 2 assists in all competitions this season, and could provide an alternative upfront to Olivier Giroud, as well as offering more pace and directness out wide, with Arsenal lacking alternatives to the injured Theo Walcott in that department.
Leverkusen will be keen to hold on to him, though, having only just acquired him, but Wenger will have the money to tempt them should he come forth with a substantial offer.
