Argentinian giants River Plate have given Liverpool a huge boost in their pursuit of rising superstar Manuel Lanzini after claiming that they could be open to letting him leave the club at the end of the season, according to Football Direct News.

River Plate president Rodolfo D’Onforio had previously insisted he would not sell the 21-year-old but has had a change of heart with the club struggling financially.

The forward has become one of the most sought after young players in South America this year, after a string of sensational performances have brought him to the attention of a number of top clubs across Europe.

And though D’Onforio admitted that he may let the starlet leave, he denied that Serie A giants Lazio had already made an offer for him, boosting Liverpool’s chances greatly.

“We still haven’t received anything from Lazio and nor from any other team,” D’Onofrio told gathering reporters in Argentina.

“We only heard what is being said in the press. Of course, we are going to analyse an offer if it comes in. However, we are also going to listen to what the player wants to do.”
