The 30 year old Serbian has two years to run on his current Chelsea contract and is looking for a longer term deal and if he fails to receive one a move to the Parc des Princes may become more of a temptation.
Chelsea have adopted a policy of only offered one year extensions to players over the age of 30 and as such Ivanovic may not get the deal he is after.
Jose Mourinho has been linked with moves for a number of left-backs, including most prominently Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis, this could lead the the Chelsea boss to move Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta to his normal spot at right-back which could lead to a more limited role for Ivanovic.
Ivanovic was a regular last term, making 50 starts in all competitions, and will hope that he continues to be a key member of Mourinho’s plans despite the Portuguese boss’s push for a more youthful squad.
