Paris Saint-Germain could look to hijack Chelsea’s proposed move for Barcelona midfielder and former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, according to Infoticker.ch.

The big-spending French giants are in the market for new signings in midfield this summer as the likes of Javier Pastore and Marco Verratti may both be set to leave the club, leaving something of a hole in that department.

Due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, PSG may have to sell before they can buy, and it is thought that Italian youngster Verratti could be sold to Serie A champions Juventus to help push through a move for Fabregas, who has been put up for sale by Barcelona after a difficult few seasons with the club.

Despite being an eagerly-anticipated signing when he moved from Arsenal in 2011, the Spanish playmaker has failed to find his best form at the Nou Camp, and has emerged as a top target for Chelsea in the last few days, with various reports stating a move could be close to being completed.

However, PSG will certainly provide stern competition for his signature, and the prospect of becoming the latest marquee signing by the Ligue 1 champions could be appealing to Fabregas as he seeks a new challenge at this stage of his career.
