Man City are set to welcome in two new additions to their ever expanding Etihad Stadium squad with boss Manuel Pellegrini closing in on deals to sign FC Porto battler Fernando and former Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna according to the Daily Mail.

Pellegrini may already have the likes of Fernandinho, Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell but the Chilean is seemingly keen on bringing in yet another midfield enforcer with the Premier League title holders set to bring in Brazilian Fernando in a £14.5m deal.

Man City also retain an interest in Fernando’s FC Porto team-mate Eliaqium Mangala though as yet no deal has been agreed for the French centre-back.

Having turned down Arsenal’s offer of a new deal 31 year old defender Sagna is set to move to Man City, no doubt tempted by the offer of a salary the north London side could not compete with, though one wonders if the French international will be a regular at his new club.

Sagna will have to unseat Argentine Pablo Zabaleta to earn his place in Pellegrini’s starting eleven and that will prove no easy task as the Argentine is arguably one of Man City’s top performers.
