Arsene Wenger is in the market for much needed attacking reinforcements having overly relied upon French international Oliver Giroud and the north London side are one of many keen on landing the 27 year old Colombian international.

Martinez’s representatives are also said to be lining up meetings with AS Roma, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and MAn United as FC Porto prepare to listen to offers for Martinez after the Portuguese side loss their Primeira Liga title to arch rivals Benfica.

The powerful forward has been a massive success since moving to Portugal two years ago, scoring 60 times in 91 appearances for FC Porto and has the physical presence to make an impact in the Premier League.

Jackson Martinez has publicly confirmed his interest in signing for the Gunners, stating;

“I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play.

“It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me.

“If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.”

Arsene Wenger’s insistence on playing the likes of Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski in wide-attacking roles has left the Arsenal boss with very few alternative central striking options to Giroud, hence his very real need to sign a prolific marksman this summer.
