Arsene Wenger looks to unite national team colleagues at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Arsenal are reportedly leading Chelsea in pursuit of German international midfielder Sami Khedira according to a report by Spanish source Sport.
The north London side’s secret weapon in pursuit of the tough tackling 27 year old comes in the form of his best friend, a certain Gunners star by the name of Mesut Ozil.

The Bernabeu star could well be sold by Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian looking to bring in Chelsea battler Ramires, and Khedira may well be keen on teaming up with his national team colleague at the Emirates Stadium.
By all accounts Ozil and Khedira are the best of friends and now may be the time for Arsene Wenger to target the former Stuttgart man.
Given that aging Spaniard Mikel Arteta didn’t have the best of seasons and defensive midfielder Mathieu Flamini seems to be Wenger’s back-up option for a central midfield berth, a move for Khedira to offer some much needed steel in the middle of the park would be a sensible one to pursue.
Khedira missed most of last season through injury but is part of Joachim Low’s 2014 World Cup finals squad.
Regardless of Ancelotti’s apparent interest in Blues star Ramires there is every chance Khedira would struggle to retain a foot-hold in the Real Madrid midfield given the presence of Luka Modric, Xabi Alonso and youngster Asier Illarramendi and as such the chance to team-up with Ozil, and other fellow Germans Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry may prove very tempting indeed.
