Former defender says Suarez’s situation still unclear.
Former Liverpool star Phil Thompson claims that FC Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez may have already completed his transfer to Anfield this summer.
The 60-year old said that he heard inside news at the club about a deal for the Chilean star being all but done.
If true, the news would come as a big blow to fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United, who have also been interested in the 25-year old.
Speaking about the situation of Liverpool’s controversial star Luis Suarez meanwhile, Thompson stated that the Uruguayan’s future at Anfield is unclear.
Positive news on Sanchez though comes as a boon to the Reds, who are keen to bolster their attack in preparation for the Champions League next season.
The fee for the former Udinese man is being mooted to be around £27 million, and Liverpool’s former Assistant Manager, Thompson, thinks the deal will happen.
“Just yesterday I heard things from people, newspaper guys who are very close to the ground at Liverpool, saying that the Sanchez deal was actually done,” Thompson was quoted by the Metro.
